This new olive variety comes from the Todolivo Genetic Improvement Program. It was naturally developed in 2008 through cross-pollination between Arbosana I-43® x Koroneiki I-38®.
A low-vigor variety with an upright growth habit. It enters production early and has a steady medium productivity, standing out especially for its high oil yield.
Its low vigor and open vegetation make pruning interventions simple. The plant combines areas of highly productive shoots with new shoots emerging from structural wood and small elongations on fruiting branches to support the following year’s harvest. In this way, the variety achieves productive balance every year and maintains the necessary vegetative growth to ensure great regularity in its yields.
Todolivo I-42P is a variety suitable for irrigated cultivation. Fruit ripening is early and its extra virgin olive oil has excellent organoleptic quality. Harvesting can be brought forward significantly due to its high oil yield. This variety produces as much oil as its sister varieties, but with fewer olives, making it a very profitable and environmentally friendly option.
It is tolerant to peacock spot and Verticillium, and slightly susceptible to olive knot disease.
